However there is no such thing as a Haitian American.
The constitution of Haiti does not permit one to be both, and that is the reality of things.
Haiti does not want you if you acquire another nationality for whatever reason you did so. And yet once you have some success here it comes puffing its chest talking about "she is one of us Haitian", "he is Haitian this and that".
Like I said good luck and God speed to Joanne Borgella, but this Haitian American thing is what I call "ce n'est pas vrai".
Us of Haitian origin (now you are talking) need to learn who loves us and who does not. Stop kissing the hand that slaps your face.
